Description
Morkin & Sowards is looking for an experienced Welder for structural steel fabrication and miscellaneous metalwork. The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:
- Follow all safety and quality standards.
- MIG welding, bolting, operation of fabrication equipment and power tools.
- Perform daily miscellaneous, incidental, or similar duties which may be required as directed by the company/shop managers.
- Check all fabricated steel and misc. metal for quality and accuracy prior to paint and again before shipping.
- Minimum 3 years fabrication experience.
- Must be able to pass a standard MIG weld test.
- Must have up-to-date welding certifications.
- Knowledge of current AISC and AWS standards.
- Able to read and understand blueprints with knowledge of weld symbols.
- Experience reviewing and understanding steel shop drawings.
- Ability to prioritize safety.
- Must be able to take direction from the shop manager.
- Must be able to work with a team.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
