Description
Morkin & Sowards is looking for an experienced Welder for structural steel fabrication and miscellaneous metalwork. The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety and quality standards.
  • MIG welding, bolting, operation of fabrication equipment and power tools.
  • Perform daily miscellaneous, incidental, or similar duties which may be required as directed by the company/shop managers.
  • Check all fabricated steel and misc. metal for quality and accuracy prior to paint and again before shipping.
Key Traits
  • Minimum 3 years fabrication experience.
  • Must be able to pass a standard MIG weld test.
  • Must have up-to-date welding certifications.
  • Knowledge of current AISC and AWS standards.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints with knowledge of weld symbols.
  • Experience reviewing and understanding steel shop drawings.
  • Ability to prioritize safety.
  • Must be able to take direction from the shop manager.
  • Must be able to work with a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
