Education Level / Certification:
      • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
      • Welding certification (preferred)
  • Experience:
      • MIG welding – 3 years (preferred)
      • Blueprint reading – 3 years (preferred)
  • Location: Wayne, MI (in-person)

    Position Type:
      • Full-time
      • On-site
      • Monday – Friday
      • 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Pay: $19.00–$23.00 per hour

    Overview:
    Morkin & Sowards is seeking an experienced Welder for structural steel fabrication and miscellaneous metalwork. The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties.

    Responsibilities:

      • Following all safety and quality standards
      • MIG welding, bolting, and operation of fabrication equipment/power tools
      • Performing daily miscellaneous, incidental, or similar duties which may be required as directed by the company/shop managers
      • Checking all fabricated steel and miscellaneous metal for quality and accuracy prior to paint and again before shipping

    Qualifications:

      • Minimum 3 years fabrication experience
      • Must be able to pass a standard MIG weld test
      • Must have up-to-date welding certifications
      • Knowledge of current AISC and AWS standards
      • Able to read and understand blueprints with knowledge of weld symbols
      • Experience reviewing and understanding steel shop drawings
      • Ability to prioritize safety
      • Must be able to take direction from the shop manager
      • Must be able to work with a team
      • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality
      • Good communication skills
      • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
      • Self-motivated and results-driven
